Hello! My name is Clay Apodaca. I am the face behind Focus Point Photography!

About Me

I wasn’t born in El Paso. But, after a decade here, it’s home.

My wife is El Paso through and through, and somewhere along the way, this city became part of my story too.

Photography started for me during the pandemic… and what began as curiosity quickly turned into something more like an obsession. Not just with cameras or gear. But, with what they allow us to do: freeze moments that would otherwise be gone in a blink.

What started with photographing my own family turned into something bigger. Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to work with incredible people. People full of personality, energy, and stories worth capturing.

And that’s really what this is about.

Not stiff poses. Not rushing through a session.

Just creating space for you to be yourself and documenting it in a way that actually feels like you.

Why So Many Eastlake Photos?

Fair question.

I’m the Athletic Trainer at Eastlake High School, which means I naturally spend a lot of time around students, athletes, and the everyday moments that make high school what it is.

That access gives me a unique perspective. Not just as a photographer, but as someone who understands what this season of life actually feels like.

But to be clear, I don’t only work with Eastlake students.

I work with anyone who wants a session that feels relaxed, real, and a little bit like just hanging out… with a camera involved.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

If you’re expecting a super serious, perfectly posed photoshoot…

I’m probably not your guy.

But if you want something that feels natural, a little adventurous, and genuinely fun. Then, we’ll get along just fine.

Because the truth is:
Some of the best moments happen in between the “posed” ones.

And yeah… sometimes that includes flash gear rolling down sidewalks or me falling over a rock with a camera bag on while backing up for a shot. Or getting hit with my own flash equipment because of wind.

Comes with the territory.

If it’s not at least a little bit of an adventure, it’s probably not me.
